LCS Laboratory offers air sampling kit for collection and laboratory testing of formaldehyde level in apartments, residential house and business offices. Each kit contains several diffusive samplers, that are designed to measure concentration of Formaldehyde in air. It unique design allows to measure formaldehyde concentration at the level typical for residential houses with sensitivity of 0.02 ppm or better.

Principle of operation: The monitor contains adsorbent that selectively adsorbs formaldehyde from air at constant rate. When you open the sampler it starts to adsorb formaldehyde. When the sampling is complete (usually in 24 hours) you return the sampler to laboratory for chemical analysis. We extract formaldehyde gas and analyse it by High Performance Liquid Chromatography following method Occupational Safety and Health Administration (USA) # 1007. We calculate concentration of formaldehyde in your air and report it back to you as a formal report.

What is included:

  • Several samplers (as per your order) in airtight foiled zip bags
  • Request for analysis form

Before you start. Please keep windows closed for at least 24 hours before the sampling, and during the test.
Decide where you want to collect the samples. You use one sampler for every area that you want to test. Please do not re-use the once used sampler to test the second or third room.

Sampling procedure:

Open the parcel and find a sampler in sealed foiled pouch, another sealable pouch or container for return shipment of the samplers to our lab, and a blank request form.

Right before sampling, open the foiled envelope and extract the sampler.

Attach a clip to the badge, and locate the sampler ID printed on a clip. You will need it later.

Pull out the sampler from a protective cover. Now you can see perforated plates and a layer of orange-yellow adsorbent inside the badge. Your sampler is ready for sampling. The matter of fact it is already collecting formaldehyde.

Hang the sampler 4-5 feet above the floor level by attaching it to your furniture.

Write down monitor ID, start time, date and sampling location on a shipping pouch and on a Request Form. Leave the sample for 8-12 hours. To stop the sampling, remove the monitor from it sampling location and insert it back into protective cover.

Place monitor into the foiled pouch and seal it. Record the end time and date on Lab Request Form. Return the samplers to our laboratory for chemical analysis.
